You should be able to understand most of the information from previous classes on correlations and multiple regression. Path Analysis is similar to multiple regression.

The strength of the relationship and sign before the number are interpreted like correlations.

In Path Analysis the researcher usually begins with a diagram with arrows connecting variables and depicting the causal flow, or the direction of cause-and-effect. This represents the researcher’s theoretical idea of the relationship between the variables being investigated.

Once the data is collected an analyzed using Path Analysis, a more detailed and specific diagram of the findings is generated. The Path coefficients are similar to the betas (partial correlations) of multiple regression and interpreted in a similar way.
