Family Violence is a term that is used to refer to all varieties of interpersonal violence, including child abuse, elder abuse, and intimate partner abuse.
Family violence presents in various forms, including physical abuse and neglect, emotional abuse and neglect, and sexual abuse. It is an area of health concern that affects people across the lifespan, and across the socio-economic and ethnic spectrum.

Family Violence is a significant and growing national health concern. Nurses caring for patients in a wide variety of settings play a role in the prevention, identification, and therapeutic management of family violence.

The purpose of this research paper is to provide the student an opportunity to explore the literature related to the topic of Family Violence. This research will provide the student a  better understanding of the scope of the problem, and an understanding of the role of the nurse in dealing with the problem.

Complete a literature search and select a specific topic within the general area of Family Violence that is of particular interest to you, and in which nurses play a role. In 5-7 pages (not including title page and reference pages) present the topic you have chosen, and an analysis of the information that you have researched.

In addition to your texts (Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Maternal and Child Health Nursing) and at least two professional nursing journal articles, you are to use at least one credible Internet resource, as well as one other credible source  for a minimum of five references.

The paper shall be typed and double spaced (Refer to the open computer lab schedule if you do not own a computer.) Refer to College documentation standards summarized in the College Student Handbook and in your composition handbook used by classes in English composition. The student is also referred to the Student Code of Conduct with respect to cheating and plagiarism outlined in the College Student Handbook. The paper is due to your clinical instructor by April 23, 2018.
Late papers will be subject to a penalty of 5 points per day.
