Primary Audience and Secondary Audience

The purpose of this discussion topic is to allow you to reflect on our audience more fully for your final research-based report and to see how your fellow students’ concepts of audience may have impacted their reports.

Please work through the following items:

1. Consider what primary vs. secondary audience is by reading this brief summary here: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~pbawa/421/PRIMARY%20AND%20SECONDARY%20AUDIENCE.htm
2. Conduct a UMUC library search (or via Google, but with .edu only sources please) on the terms primary audience and secondary audience. List two sources you found and how the sources defined these two terms.
3. For your research-based report, who is the primary audience? Who is the secondary audience?
4. Does the secondary audience impact how you should rewrite aspects of the report? Please explain why or why not.
