Hello, I do not need a title page for this assignment. I only need a paragraph or two in response to each discussion board post, for a total of two different replies. Each reply needs 2 references. I will list some class reading references at the bottom for you if you choose to use them. Thank you!
First post:
Good Morning,
Many practitioners have a difficult time figuring out exactly what a client may be experiencing.
When dealing with psych meds other disease states and meds play an important role in deciding on what should be used.
Remember your decisions on what to use in the papers but often clients have a long list of meds and disease states. Below are some common issues many may also have like sleep apnea an diabetes. What can you do if this person also has depression and needs a treatment?
Often we can get someone to sleep but they are unable to stay that way even with a longer acting med (ex. Temazepam).
Other disease states or other issues may be the cause and these must be included in the differential.
Is the patient experiencing sleep apnea or hypoglycemia(diabetic with too much insulin at night) or a myriad of issues.
What other tests would you use to ensure that you are treating properly?
Any posts would be great!
Best,
Dr. Weiner
Second post:
Good Afternoon,
As we learn about insomnia treatments we must keep in mind that many clients have already tried OTC treatments.
These may include:
Antihistamines
Theonine
Melatonin
KAVA KAVA
Valerian
These are just some of the most commonly used as there are myriad of claims on google and by “experts”.
My questions are do any of these really work and if so may they interfere with the treatments we recommend in this class.
Any posts would be great and I appreciate the research.
Stay safe!
Best,
Dr. Weiner
