Julian’s mother had mental health problems and a complex social life and could not manage to look after Julian at the time. His father is unknown. He experienced a number of challenges growing up and despite demonstrating a good level of ability he did not do well at school. Later it was discovered he was Dyslexic and he has continued to experience difficulty reading and writing. On a number of occasions, he became involved in fights with other boys and was in contact with the police regularly for smoking cannabis. At the age of 19yrs Julian was detained under the Mental Health Act (MHA) and spent 6months in hospital. He had further admissions at the age of 22yrs and 29yrs and was diagnosed with Schizophrenia.
