The 4Rs Model of Reflective Thinking

Task
You are required to write a final reflective piece of 1000 words, drawing on your reflections throughout the course, and using the ‘The 4Rs Model of Reflective Thinking’:

Reporting: Give a description of your learning journey. What are some of your key insights, observations, questions, and thoughts you have had throughout the session? What insights have you gained into nursing practice?

Relating: Relate this to your experiences in health care, both professionally and personally. Have you seen examples of this? Is what you experience similar or different to what you have learnt? Do you have the skills and knowledge to deal with these issues?

Reasoning: What are the NMBA professional standards and evidence-based healthcare approaches that relate to cultural competency? Explain how they relate to the issues? Refer to current and relevant theory and evidence.

Reconstructing: What does all this mean for your future practice? What practices might you adopt or change? Are there any skills you feel you need to develop further in order to improve your ability to act in culturally competent ways? What is the theory that supports that?
