Some parents have specific expectations on what they want their child(ren) to do as a career. Some parents may expect that their children will follow in the parents footsteps. For example, a physician father may assume that his son/daughter will go into medicine. The farmer may expect his/her child to take over the farm after he has retired. What happens if the child does not want to follow that same path?
