Ok so im studying mitosis and meiosis, and im kinda confused on meiosis. So I know it only happens in sex cells and that the end result is split cells with 23 chromosomes. So does a normal 46 chromosome (diploid?) cell duplicate it’s chromosomes in interphase making it a 92 chromosomed cell? Then it splits once then goes through cell division and splits again? Also I know that in every cell you normally have 23 pairs of chromosomes and one set would be your sex chromosomes such as XX or XY and that determines your gender. But in a sex cell are there sex chromosomes as well? One set? Or is the whole thing made up of sex chromosomes? And also do sex cells get created from normal cells?? Like can any 46 chromosomed cell go through meiosis and then make a 23 chromosomed sex cell? Or are only certain cells able to go through meiosis. Sorry im really kind of lost
