Like in most cities in America, African Americans do experience discrimination in these institutions, although in Philadelphia the African Americans have a much higher economic state as compared to other cities in the country. The “cosmopolitan canopies” has resulted in the absorbtion of all cultures in these institutions, the African Americans have better chances as doctors, tecahers, lawyers and even politicians with very little discrimination based on their race.

The black middle class is doing very well, there are good and secure neighborhoods, neat and tidy houses and generally a better standard of living for the blacks in Philadelphia.
