After 9/11, there was a palpable fear of international terrorism, which shaped public behavior, popular culture, public policy, and foreign policy. The Department of Homeland Security is an enduring legacy of that time. Since it was created in 2003, DHS has evolved from one that focused on terrorism to, depending on the year, focus on immigration, disaster management, or even the mitigation of risks during a Presidential election (see 2016 election).

In your discussion post this week, identify the main issue that DHS is focusing on at present, and provide an example of a recent policy that was enacted to address that issue. Also, identify an issue that, in your opinion, is not receiving attention it deserves, and what the risks are of that inattention.
