In business, it is customary to praise individualistic competition and denigrate collective bargaining in all forms. However, in the Hanseatic League, we clearly see an example of merchants working together for mutual success over a period of three hundred years! What lessons are we to learn from this? Are there prospects for more merchant leagues in an increasingly globalized economy?
