If you made the effort to understand the simple equations used here, you will be able to actually understand the books which would otherwise just grace your coffee table. The reader must have noticed that so far I have been only dealing with rather old concepts – no mention has been yet made of the Big Bang, the Superstring theory in n+1 dimensions, or the possibility of creating a baby Universe in laboratory. We will have a chance to talk about some of these topics later on, but quite remarkably, the points I am trying to make in this chapter can be made using concepts known since the late 1930s. What are we to make of all this?
