Term Paper: The term paper is each student’s opportunity to explore in detail a topic of their choice related to General Psychology. The term paper should review the most recent literature available on your topic unless there is a particular reason you are investigating a historical aspect of a topic.

Your topic need to be sufficiently defined and narrowed, in your title and introduction, so that it can be covered adequately in 6-8 pages of body (standard 12 point font, double spaced). The paper is to use at least five scholarly journal articles on your topic as well as two other references (books, websites and periodicals). Material from the internet that is not published elsewhere is not considered scholarly. The paper is to be written in a research rather than a journalistic fashion and conform to APA style. It must include a title page, abstract and references page. This assignment will be submitted to Turnitin.com (make sure your name does not appear on the Turnitin.com submission).

In order to help students adequately prepare to turn in the best research paper, the research paper will be broken down into 3 parts:

Part 1 – Submit a 1-2 paragraph paper proposal. Consider this your ″elevator pitch.″

You will tell me;

what topic would you like to cover in your research paper?

how does that topic specifically relate to General Psychology?

why would it be important to engage in research on this topic?

Part 2 – Submit an annotated bibliography.

Because this paper is so research-heavy, you will be required to submit a 2-3 page literature review in which you read, review, and integrate 2 peer-reviewed journal articles

Part 3 – Complete and submit your research paper.

This is the part where you integrate Part 1 and Part 2, along with adding the other necessary elements in order to submit a complete research paper.
