First, describe the difference between quantitative and qualitative research.  Please give an example of qualitative research and an example of quantitative research.

Second, imagine you have been hired to conduct a study about binge drinking among college students on traditional campus by the use of a survey.  How would you measure the variable binge drinking on your survey?  What do you think would be several important predictors of binge drinking among college students?  What is the dependent variable in this study?  What would one independent variable in this study be?
