Consider the pros and cons of assessing for conduct disorder features in juvenile forensic populations and what impact it may have on a juvenile and his or her placement, including where in the adjudicative process the results might be used.

Review the article “Callous-Unemotional Traits in Predicting the Severity and Stability of Conduct Problems and Delinquency.” Focus on the behavior of a child who displays the traits discussed and consider the potential importance of assessing these traits.

Review the article “Males on the Life-Course-Persistent and Adolescent-Limited Antisocial Pathways: Follow-up at Age 26 Years.” Think about the persistence of the behaviors leading to delinquency and why the study is significant in relation to assessing for conduct disorder in juveniles.

The assignment (2–3 pages):

Describe where in the juvenile adjudicative process that the findings from an evaluation for conduct disorder might be used.

Illustrate the difference that the results of a conduct disorder evaluation might make in the juvenile adjudicative process, using specific examples that illustrate both pros and cons.
