Explain how HIPPA affects the way workers in health care approach patient confidentiality.
HIPAA or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was instituted into
law. This law has significantly affected the human services industry including the requirement
for various changes in the way we speak with our patients, their families, and with each other.
This law gives rights to patients and shields for workers. It influences everybody in a social
insurance setting. Since the days in which the Nightingale Pledge was composed, nursing has
focused on the significance of classification on every patient matter. The present Code of Ethics
for Nurses (ANA, 2001) is clear in goal and significance as it identifies with the medical
attendant's part in advancing and supporting for patient's rights identified with protection and
classification.
