Nevertheless, since most e-waste materials are complex electronic devices made from a wide variety of components, the risks these types of electronics pose to humans or our natural environment are growing. Simultaneously, the policy responses to these threats are not keeping up with the dynamic management challenges being created today. Accordingly, local, state, and federal policymakers face a plethora of dilemmas when trying to create effective policies regulating the proper disposal of hazardous e-waste.
