The overall purpose of this assignment is to use personal writing as a means to think and reflect on your own life experiences that have led you to enroll in doctoral study. It is often helpful to think about a specific “turning-point” experience that stands out in your mind as critical in your decision to enter uncharted waters and begin doctoral study. Some of these questions may help you to focus your paper:
Was there an experience in your life when:

You suddenly knew that you needed to change your life?
You realized that you had a passion for learning more?
You felt that something you did really made a difference in an outcome for a patient, colleague, friend, or family member?
You did something that surprised you for going so well, or so badly?
You realized that you felt like a stranger among your friends and family?
You felt that your life was going in a meaningless direction?

Focus on the critical incident that reflects your experience and write it as if you were telling it as a story to a new acquaintance. Include details that help the reader see and hear why the experience was an important “turning-point” for you. Include details of the context of the incident, your thoughts and feelings at the time, and why the experience was critical to your growth as a scholar/researcher. The paper should be no longer than 3-4 pages, double-spaced.
Identify at least one full text article (other than Carper seminal article) about Ways of Knowing in Nursing. This can be an evaluation or critique of Carper’s work.
Please include reference to four relevant articles about Nursing’s Ways of Knowing (can be from your or other student postings) that in some way are related to your discussion. Include a reference page in APA style.
