This assignment requires you to develop and document your own leadership philosophy. A philosophy
of leadership is what guides your professional opinions, actions, and behaviors. Leadership philosophy is
in part based on your values and beliefs; however, it is also influenced by internal and external factors.
Your leadership philosophy is the underpinning of your leadership principles and practices.
Leaders must be effective in their role and this assignment allows you to identify and describe
why your leadership philosophy will be effective.
The paper must clearly identify your leadership philosophy and be supported with research, literature
and resources that bring credibility to your philosophy.
Assignment/Paper format
• First part would be to review and analyze leadership theories (introduction)
• Then describe what would be important to your values and beliefs, including one – two
page of your leadership philosophy (body)
• Summarize your paper – one short paragraph (conclusion)

Grading of your paper will be based on the following expectations:
• Paper will follow APA 6th ed.
• Paper will be written with a strong academic tone integrating professional nursing concepts and
professional nursing language as learned in this course and prior CNUR courses.
• Paper will be well organized, written clearly and concisely with distinct aspects – an introduction,
body and conclusion.
• Paper will be free of grammatical errors and typos (please proof read your paper).
• Refer to academic paper rubrics for additional guidelines
• Paper will be written in 3rd person; use 1st person when discussing your personal values and
beliefs.
• Paper will be1250-1500 words; please identify the word count of your paper following the
conclusion.
• Paper may include appendices as necessary and appropriate.
• Paper must include ten relevant and recent academic references from credible academic journals
and resources that are less than 5 years old. These references must be properly cited using APA
6th ed. referencing.
