Professor Response

You could create a ratio of turnovers per month divided by the average hourly pay rate during the month.

For example, 5 turnovers in month 1/average pay per month $15 an hour = 0.33

Then you would implement an intervention program to reduce turnover and measure this same ratio in the period of time after the intervention is started.

Comparing 6 months of data before the intervention to 6 months after would be acceptable for a Capstone project like this.

Is this a plan that you could get approval from your preceptor to complete?

Me to Professor Topic in Bold

I spoke with my Preceptor and we came up with “Staff Turnover Rates and Staff Burnout Due to Rates of Pay”.  She will be providing me with the turnover rates of the last 3 years and rates of pay. (or is there a particular time frame to go back)  I will compare that data with other Nursing Home Facilities similar in size.  Is this a good topic?  If so, I can move on with writing up my Topic Approval and submit early next week.
