Concept Summary 3

Directions: Read the paper “Fever from the Forest….” by Vasilakis et al. 2011 and the news story “Zika isn’t just an epidemic. It’s here to stay” (pdfs in File “Unit 3” in Web Campus)

There are two terms to work with for this summary:

1. Use the term “Sylvatic cycle” and 2. select a different term or a question from these readings. I need to write short (~I need at least 2 hundred )summary for each term (i.e., two paragraphs) and their meaning/significance for the study of infectious disease.

Your Concept Summary should 1) define the term 2) place it in context of epidemiology (i.e., why is it important) 3) provide examples or scenarios where this term is important and 4) comment on any unknowns for Zika.

Lastly, write 1-2 questions on anything that that you didn’t understand.
