Both Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois became leaders in the black community at very beginning of the 1900s.  Compare their philosophies, arguments, and actions, review the general attitude toward blacks at that time, and explain whether Washington’s or Du Bois’ position may have been a better one to follow, given the circumstances.
