Research proposal instructions

The recruited participants will be students and general public. This will be an online study, therefore, you need to state how data will be collected from (e.g. media, Facebook groups, and online groups) and that Qualtrics software will be used to gather data. Hence, a link will be shared on the above pages so the participants can access the questionnaires in order to complete them. Make sure to consider demographics factors such as; gender and age.

REMEMBER

This is a quantitative study.

The research proposal topic is: “An exploration of body image, quality of life and the influence on psychological well-being”

You must specify the questionnaires that will be used. Therefore, for body image (High and low), you need to use the Body shape questionnaire (BDQ), support with a reference and outline the number of items.

For the quality of life, make sure is the QoL 16 items questionnaire and NOT health related quality of life.

Find the respective questionnaire for psychological well-being.

Make sure to choose the adequate method of analysis to include under question 4. See whether multiple regression or MANOVA is the most appropriate to use.

Make sure to outline the aim of the study in question 1, by outlining what is going to be predict and how do you propose to do this. Therefore, explain in detail what the analyses will consist of.

Make sure to briefly mention any implications or limitations that may incur within the study.

Please ensure you use the headings below to structure the report.  No other headings are required.

1. Please provide a brief statement of the problem to be investigated and methods of investigation. (This should summarise the information provided in the rest of the proposal.  It may help if you write this section last.  Confine the summary to no more than 300 words.)

2. Give a full description of the problem to be investigated, outlining the background to the problem and stating clearly the original contribution made by own study. Include the hypotheses at the end (700 words)

3. Details of participants. Indicate how many and of what type.  If is intend to sample from special populations, e.g. school children, indicate what arrangements will be made to gain access to the participants.  (400 words). 

4. Give an outline of the proposed research design and method of analysis. (800 words)

5. What ethical issues are raised by this research? How do you plan to deal with these ethical issues? Recommend support services such as; MINDS, health well-being. (250 words)  

Make sure to consider the following when writing:

• Synthesis of material to answer the question in a novel or authoritative way.
• Evidence of very wide-ranging and/or impressively detailed knowledge of Health Psychology research and theory.
• Integration of core Health Psychology material with information about related disciplines.
• Insightful or authoritative evaluations of theory and research.
• Extremely well organized answers whose structure reflects the development of argument.
• Professional academic writing style, with good use of language and cogent, fluent expression of ideas.
• APA referencing style throughout the paper
